Inside Out Golf Swing

Inside Out Golf Swing

Without question, the number one biggest problem for most amateur golfers is an inside out golf swing. Coming over the top causes several problems and generally results in golfers hitting the dreaded slice. A slice is an ugly shot that goes from left-to-right for right handed golfers and robs an incredible amount of distance.

The problem the majority of golfers with an inside out golf swing have is a poor foundation. Somebody with a reverse pivot leans on their front side and foot during the takeaway and backswing and moves their weight backwards or to their right foot and side during the downswing and follow-through.

This motion will help you stop slicing the ball; the reason you slice is usually because you are swinging from outside to inside like most players; therefore correcting this problem should help you hit the ball straight and even get a slight draw.

Why you slice

How do you correct these problems and develop the inside out golf swing you want?

Let the arms fall

When you just focus on letting the arms fall naturally you allow your lower body to clear out before your upper body comes through, which is key for hitting a draw.

Visualize the right plane

During address, imagine a straight line running through the ball in line with the target (our "target line") and stretching to infinity in both directions. For example, at the start of the back swing, the imaginary line extending from the bottom of the club shaft follows along the target line running behind the ball.
